Sabin HydroPark
Sabin HydroPark is a vibrant community pocket park in inner NE Portland at 1907 NE Skidmore in the Sabin neighborhood and nearby the Alberta and Alameda neighborhoods. This two acre park includes a new kids playground, benches and picnic tables, a recently expanded community garden, native plantings, and a meandering path through shaded green space.
A grand opening of Sabin HydroPark was held on Sunday May 18th, 2008. Commissioner Randy Leonard was there to commemorate this community milestone, along with a big community crowd and lots of kids. The community cupcake potluck was a big success, thanks to everyone who brought a dozen to share. There was also a blueberry planting in the community garden, thanks to Leslie Pohl-Kosbau, Community Gardens' Program Director.
Since the park's opening, there has also been an active group of neighborhood volunteers who have been working to remove any graffiti found. Thanks to these neighbors who are viligent in caring for this new community asset. If you would like to get involved, please contact Darcy Cronin, 503-823-3520.
