Osprey in the Columbia South Shore Well Field - Printable Version - May 23, 2007 - 1 Comments

Osprey building nest in Portland's groundwater well field If you use the search tool for this blog with Dan Hooker's name in it, you'll find a wealth of beautiful photos he has taken as he moves through the Columbia South Shore Well Field and the Bull Run during his work as a Water Quality Inspector.

Recently Dan grabbed this image of an osprey building a nest very close to one of the city's groundwater production wells on Marine Drive. He's watched a pair of osprey working on this over the past several weeks. The well field frequently plays an important  role in supplementing Portland's summer water supply.

Dan - You're the man!  I'm confident that everyone thinks we need more pictures of Beavers and none of those pestering Ducks.  Keep up the great pics!
