Population & Service Area Portland's service area covers parts of Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas Counties in Oregon. The Portland water system serves drinking water to approximately 860,000 Oregonians, over one-fifth of the population of Oregon. The bureau’s retail and wholesale service area is approximately 253 square miles. Of that, Portland’s current retail service area is approximately 143.3 square miles.
In 2006-2007, the Portland Water Bureau directly served over 160,800 residential households (both single and multi-family residences) and almost 20,000 commercial and industrial customers. |
