2005 Eastside Hub ProjectWhat was the Eastside Hub Project?Transportation Options worked with residents and the business community in the Eastside Hub with the goals of decreasing drive alone trips, increasing walking, biking, transit and carpool trips and increasing accessibility and neighborhood livability. With the help of area businesses Options offered incentives for program participation and something for virtually everyone.
The target area called the Eastside Hub and was bordered by SE 30th Avenue and SE 82nd Avenue to the west and east and Interstate-84 and SE Woodward Street to the north and south.
Targeting our efforts in the Eastside Hub allowed Options to provide numerous opportunities and tools for area residents and employees to learn how to get around by walking, biking, transit, carpooling and other alternatives to driving alone. We used hands-on, interactive programs to make these transportation options fun and accessible for all.
With this program, Options promoted the benefits of alternative transportation, supplied eastsiders with the know how to make new travel choices, and provided the support area residents needed to make these changes a part of their life.
Eastside Hub residents received our Transportation Options Order Form in the mail from April through June. With the Order Form they requested a variety of useful travel tools such as a SE Portland Walking Map, a schedule of walks for seniors, transit route information, a Ten Toe Express walking kit or a Portland By Cycle biking kit.
Our aim was to provide Eastside Hub Portland residents with the materials they needed to get around Portland in a variety of ways. A wide range of transportation options is key to preserving our urban transportation network and vital to the area’s economic health and livability. So get around and rediscover Portland.
