The Bureau of Transportation is partnering with Portland State University on a Cycle Track demonstration project on SW Broadway from SW Clay to SW Jackson.  PSU has one of the largest populations of bicyclists in the downtown core and is a key destination for many cyclists. 

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance has provided Transportation with critical insights on the design and the Cycle Track.  They strongly support this demonstration saying, "Widening the bike lane on Broadway and putting it next to the sidewalk, instead of next to the moving traffic, will give people a more comfortable place to ride. And because this is a demonstration project, we'll be very interested to hear feedback from all users of the street on what works, and what doesn't work, for them."

The new Cycle Track on Broadway will provide a highly visible location in downtown Portland.  Portland State University hosts a Saturday Farmers’ Market and at Portland State they do more then just study sustainability. The university engages directly with the community around them to make sustainability real.
