Dan Saltzman

Dan is currently serving his third term as a Portland City Commissioner and has been the Commissioner in Charge of nine city bureaus in his ten-plus years in office. His latest responsibilities, as assigned by Mayor Adams, include the management of Portland Police Bureau, the Fire and Police Disability and Retirement System, the Children's Investment Fund, and the Bureau of Environmental Services.
Dan was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Beaverton High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and an M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He spent many years in the private sector as the principal in an environmental engineering firm. He also served as a staff assistant to Congressman (now Senator) Ron Wyden.
Dan served as Multnomah County Commissioner from 1993-1998 and has served on the Board of Directors for Portland Community College and HOST Community Development. Dan's focus continues to be making the health and well-being of our children & families the highest priority by preventing child abuse and domestic violence as well as protecting Portland's natural and economic environment to achieve a more sustainable future.
