FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RALLY FOR EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK
When: Tuesday, April 8th @ 2pm
Where: Portland City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave.
In recognition of National Equal Pay Day, Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman, advocates, and fellow elected officials will rally for the effort to create pay equity for all Oregon workers, sick days as a mandatory right for all workers in Oregon, and the removal of the state’s minimum wage preemption for cities.
“Among many of the efforts to improve workers’ lives, Portland City Council enacted mandatory sick leave last year and now we must move beyond the borders of Portland and ensure that all Oregonians have this fundamental right,” said Commissioner Saltzman. He will join workers, advocates, as well as local and state elected officials in urging our state legislature to make sick days, equal pay, and an adequate minimum wage a right for all working Oregonians.
