The City of Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) does not endorse specific organizations, products or services that are present at Fix-It Fairs. Our mission at the Fix-It Fair is to connect people with resources that encourage healthful and sustainable choices and thereby foster a more sustainable community. There is no cost to be an exhibitor at the Fix-It Fair.

Exhibitor and workshop space at Fix-It Fairs is limited, and BPS reserves the right to provide exhibit and classroom space to organizations that we, in our sole discretion, deem to best match our mission. The Fix-It Fairs are not vendor fairs or trade shows. Private companies seeking solely to promote a service or product for a profit will not be considered.

Applications to exhibit or teach workshops are no longer being accepted for the 2012-13 season of Fix-It Fairs. Please email fixitfair@portlandoregon.gov to be added to a notification list for next year.

7 Ways to save money on your utility bills  

You have the power to reduce your energy bills! Every day we make choices that affect our electricity, gas, water, sewer or garbage costs. It's the right thisng to do: Small changes at home can help reduce expenses and create a healtheir home for your family.

1. Contact the Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO) to schedule a FREE home energy review. ETO will recommend energy-saving measures specific to your house and install free compact fluorescent light bulbs, faucet aerators and showerheads. Call 1-800-866-ENTRUST or go to www.energytrust.org
2. Order a free water conservation kit (water audit kit, leak detectors and more) from the City of Portland Water Bureau. Call 503-823-7439 or order online at www.portlandonline.com/water/conservationkits.
3. Buy home appliances and windows that feature the Energy Star® label. Visit www.energytrust.org for information about cash incentives for these purchases.
4. Make your home energy-tight: Set home heating thermostat to 68º F daytime, 55º F nighttime and water heater thermostat to 120º F. Add insulation to walls, under floors, ducts and attics.
5. Replace incandescent light bulbs with CFL light bulbs.

7. “Phantom Power” is wasteful and can increase your energy bills: Microwaves, stereo equipment, televisions, chargers for cell phones or iPods, and computer equipment all draw power when plugged in. Shutting off the main switch on a power strip stops these devices from drawing power.
