Help Shape the Rivers Office Budget

The City's new Office of Healthy Working Rivers is convening an advisory committee to help shape its 2010 -11 budget proposal, and encourages interested citizens to volunteer.

We're seeking input on key directions for the upcoming year, community priorities for implementing the City's river vision, and ideas on how to shape the Office's proposed budget to fit these priorities and fiscal realities.

Members will be asked to attend a minimum of two committee meetings (1.5 hours each), and participate in up to two broader community forums to help identify budget priorities for our Office. It is likely that this advisory committee will continue to meet throughout the year to help determine future priorities for the Office.

If you are not able to commit to the full set of meetings, you are still welcome to attend any meeting or part of any meeting and provide your input.

The first meeting is scheduled for:

      Monday, December 9th

      from 4:30 – 6:00 pm

      in the Lodgepole Conference Room

      Portland Building, 10th Floor

      1120 SW 5th Avenue

If you are interested in participating in this volunteer opportunity, please send a short email or letter describing your background and why you are interested by December 1, 2009 to:

Suzanne Lindstrom, at suzanne.lindstrom@ci.portland.or.us

 or by U.S. mail to:

Recognizing The Willamette River as Portland’s Centerpiece

One of the City of Portland’s most important river goals is to reclaim the Willamette River as Portland’s centerpiece. Therefore the City promotes and celebrates the Willamette River as our chief environmental, economic, and urban asset.
