River of Action Event on Saturday, October 24 - Printable Version

On October 15, 2009, the Oregonian reported that 350.org, a non-profit organization, is preparing for Saturday, October 24th as the International Day of Climate Action. Scientists believe 350 parts per million is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, according to event organizers--a concentration that's currently far-exceeded.

"If you're a kayaker, canoeist or paddle boarder, take part in a River of Action in Portland on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and be part of [forming] the number 350 on the Willamette River. ...If you're a walker, you can join a short segment of a 350-mile walk that began on Sept. 20. ...And ...there's an Awareness Rally at Pioneer Square from 1 to 3 p.m., where the paddlers and walkers will end up along with anyone else who wants to be involved."
