Question: Which uses more electricity - your television in off mode for a week or listening to your morning radio show for one hour?
Well now there's an easy, free way to find out. The Energy Trust of Oregon and Multnomah County Library are lending out Kill-A-Watt monitors that measure the energy use of household electronics. Just plug your appliance and Kill-A-Watt monitor into a standard wall outlet and it will tell you how much energy your electronic device uses. Then you can decide how to maximize energy savings by unplugging, replacing or shutting it off.
