Citizen ParticipationSupporting community and citizen initiative is perhaps the most important part of how we help make things happen. We understand that government alone does not have the knowledge, skill or capacity to solve societal problems. Working on these issues requires a partnership between government, the private sector and community groups. The strength of these partnerships directly impact how successful a neighborhood is in pursuing its revitalization efforts. Our role is to convene, encourage, and support the groups with whom we interact.
The challenges involved in these efforts are great but we are committed to working alongside our citizen and organizational partners to create positive change. We have recently updated our Citizen Participation Plan (Appendix A, 2005-2010 Consolidated Plan) in order to lay out in more detail our goals and strategies. |
