Reuben Patrick Boise was a Portland school board member in the 1850s. He went on to become a circuit judge and then a member of the Oregon Supreme Court. Rev. Thomas Lamb Eliot was a pioneer minister, Multnomah County school superintendent, and a director of the Portland Library Association. In 1899, Eliot set up the first Municipal Park Commission for Portland.
