| TRAINING: Governing and Managing Your Neighborhood Association -- February 29, 2012.
Neighborhood association board members and officers often have questions about correct procedures and best practices for leading and managing their neighborhood associations. While, many neighborhood leaders are familiar with the City of Portland's requirements for formally-recognized neighborhood associations--the "ONI Standards"--fewer are familiar with the the State of Oregon's requirements for non-profit corporations under Oregon's Nonprofit Corporation Law. Most of Portland's neighborhood associations are registered as non-profit corporations with the Oregon Secretary of State.
On February, 29, 2012, Portland Attorney Cindy Cumfer presented a training to about 80 neighborhood association leaders on the non-profit corporation aspects of governing and managing a neighborhood associations. Cindy Cumfer has practiced law in Oregon since 1978 and is one of Oregon's foremost experts in the legal aspects of non-profit corporation management. Cindy focuses her private practice exclusively on non-profit organizations and is the co-author of the highly respected Oregon Non-Profit Corporation Handbook.
Cindy's presentation covered a wide range of topics, and she responded to a number of questions from participants.
