A body of eleven citizen volunteers appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Commissioner of Parks and acts as an advisory group to the Director of Parks and Recreation and to the City Forester. The Commission achieves these goals through education, conservation efforts, planting efforts and public policy. The Commission has direct responsibility for urban forest elements on public properties, including parks and right-of-way.
Reviews and updates Portland's Urban Forestry Management Plan and submits to City Council for approval. Provides advice to the City Forester, Director of Parks and the Park's Budget Advisory Committee on the annual Urban Forestry Budget Request. Review plans and policies which contain a section specifically dealing with the relations and concerns of various City bureaus. Acts as an appeals body for urban forestrly permit appeals and reviews.
