Description

(rescheduled from Jan 21st)

NECN invites community members to join in lively discussions exploring public safety and livability issues in inner-north and northeast Portland, to weigh in on topical issues, and to assist with the development of educational forums on safety and livability. In the past, SALT:

  • Developed and hosted Sharing the Road, a transportation safety forum for people who walk, bike and drive. Drew a large audience and lead to increased participation in participating neighborhood associations.
  • Hosted several representatives from youth and gang outreach programs to learn more about how to reduce youth and gang violence in the area. From these discussions, we created a “Top-5 Actions for Reducing Violence” resource list for distributing between neighbors.
  • Monitored Last Thursday’s impacts on the four neighborhoods along Alberta, gathering information from neighborhood associations and additional community members through conversations and a survey.
  • Weighed in on the Portland Plan on behalf of the coalition area in regards to safety, livability and equity issues.
