Street improvement closes lane on SE 22nd Avenue beginning March 25

(PORTLAND, Ore.) – The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that street improvements will require a northbound lane closure on Southeast 22nd Avenue between Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast Lafayette Street beginning Monday, March 25, through Monday, April 8, all hours and all days. The public is advised to expect delays, travel cautiously, observe all lane closures and directions by flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.

The lane closure is necessary to remove and replace both the base and the surface layers of isolated sections of the road to stabilize the foundation of the road and prevent potholes and other surface distress.

A detour will be in effect to accomplish this work. Northbound traffic on SE 22nd Avenue will be detoured onto SE Lafayette Street, west to SE 21st Avenue, then north to SE Powell Boulevard.

Local access to residences and businesses will be provided. Sidewalks will be kept open.

This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may change.
