Get ready for the 2013 State of Oregon Legislative session!

Please join us for a “Legislative Advocacy 101” training that is designed to give you the tools to be an effective advocate for your neighborhood and community during this upcoming legislative session.  A panel of State legislators, community and neighborhood leaders will share their tips for how the community can make an impact on public policy during the 2013 state legislative session.

 

Panelists include:

  • Senator Ginny Burdick, District 18
  • State Representative Lew Frederick, District 43
  • Joseph Santos-Lyons, Interim Associate Director, Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon
  • Don Baack, SW Trails PDX and former chair Hillsdale Neighborhood Association
  • Angela Martin, Director, Economic Fairness Oregon

  • The process for how a bill becomes a law
  • How to build relationships with legislators and their staff
  • Strategies for mobilizing your base of membership or coalitions to maximize advocacy impact
  • Do's and don'ts for lobbying on all fronts
