The University of Portland Women’s Soccer Program has a history of excellence in competition and dedicated service to the greater good of the City of Portland. But perhaps the greatest achievements for the program are experienced not on the field, but in the many community service efforts that have been adopted over the years.

The UP Women’s Soccer Team has continued its fundraising support of the Harper’s Playground initiative this season. Harper’s Playground is a fund-raising effort to bring an inclusive playground to Arbor Lodge Park. Last year the team held a season-long silent auction and raised $5,000. The soccer program has also had a long history of volunteer service at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH). In 2008, the team participated in the ‘Adopt-a-Room’ program at Legacy Emanuel Hospital and raised a total of $7,000 over a three-month period.

Danielle Foxhoven – an All-American on the team and 2012 graduate – founded and runs Equipment Across Continents, which serves as a low-cost provider for new and used sports equipment to underdeveloped countries across the world. 100% of the proceeds go towards funding shipments of used sports equipment to Coaches across Continents so that they may be used as educational tools for children in third world countries.
