Ms. Williams has been principal of Roosevelt High School since 2009. Over the last two years, the Roosevelt campus has turned into a vibrant and positive place where teaching and real learning is taking place. Charlene’s dedication to raising the academic achievements of all students has led to concrete results with increased numbers of Gates Scholarship recipients, increased graduation rates, and increased test scores.

She has helped to enrich and revitalize our community through school-based services. Charlene has established an array of “parent nights,” arranged monthly summer campus barbeques that are open to the entire community, staunchly supported after-school programs for students and families, and established partnerships with various groups that have brought significant resources into the community and the school.

Additionally, under her tenure, she has developed the school’s first equity team, allocated resources for retreats where students learn to connect interculturally and develop a strong sense of identity, and made it a point to diversify the staff at Roosevelt by bringing in community members from a variety of cultural groups to play different roles on campus.
