Night work scheduled for Hawthorne Bridge eastside lane striping

A westbound lane of the S.E. Madison Avenue ramp leading to the Hawthorne Bridge will be closed from 2 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Monday, October 8 to allow a crew to remove and replace lane striping on the ramp. The new striping will provide greater separation for westbound bicyclists and motor vehicles on the popular bike bridge. More bicycle and pedestrian improvements are planned on the east approaches to the bridge in 2013, including a wider sidewalk on the eastbound ramp leading to S.E. Grand Avenue.

Multnomah County maintains the Hawthorne Bridge, five other Willamette River bridges, and 300 miles of roads. For more information, visit www.multco.us/bridges.
