Making a Difference Awards 2010
The Disability Program presents The Making a Difference Awards each year to individuals and groups who make a difference to the greater community in regards to the inclusion and advancement of people with disabilities. Please nominate those who have committed themselves to helping Portland shine!
One award will be given in each category at the Connecting Communities event Thursday, October 28 at the Lloyd Center Doubletree Hotel in Portland, OR. The theme being, “The ADA at 20: Erasing Negative Stereotypes”
Lifetime Achievement
For a lifetime committed to the advocacy and advancement of people with disabilities
Community Inclusion
For a program or organization that makes profound advancements in creating a more inclusive community for people with disabilities.
Advocacy
For an individual who is an exemplary advocate for people with disabilities
Business Advancement
For a business that advances the people with disability community through employment, adaptation and access
Youth Leadership
For an individual under the age of 25 that displays leadership in advancing the inclusion and recognition of People with disabilities
ADA/Built Environment
For achievements in universal design and innovative adaptation in transportation, housing, parks or other area’s of infrastructure that reflex the best spirit of the American’s with Disability Act.

To submit nominations please attach a one-page written narrative telling us why this nominee should receive a Making a Difference award. Be sure to let us know which award you are nominating the person for. (The Selection Committee will not review additional pages).
Deadline for submitting nominations is, September 1, 2010.
