CITYWIDE LAND USE GROUP

NEIGHBORHOODS PLANNING A LIVABLE PORTLAND

Monday – November 23, 2009

7:00 to 9:00 pm

Room 2500 B; 1900 Building; 1900 SW Fourth

MEETING NOTICE

Neighborhood Character is how we measure change - and change is what most of us work with as Neighborhood Association Land Use Reviewers or as members of other committees for our Neighborhood Association.

The problem is that we have never really identified Neighborhood Character in a way that is clear to many of the people we want to influence. Beginning this month and continuing into the early part of 2010, Citywide Land Use Group will be trying to work with you to establish some real meaning to Neighborhood Character that we can bring into the Portland Plan strategic planning effort for our future.

Our Monday, November 23, 2009 Citywide Land Use Group meeting will begin to define Neighborhood Character.  Guest participants include:

Rebecca Esau, Manager - Land Use Review ; Bureau of Development Services, significant changes in who we work with for Land Use Review impacts of severe budget cuts on her staffing.

Susan McKinney, BDS Supervisor of - Design Review, Adjustments, and Conditional Use requests processes that may try to define Neighborhood Character while interpreting code.

Don MacGillivray, Sunnyside Neighborhood Association a start to consideration of form based code in defining Neighborhood Character

Deborah Stein, District Liaison Program Manager clarifying Portland Plan as strategic planning and the Comp Plan work listening to your comments about the Portland Plan workshops to date

We will end the meeting by doing a test run of a very early draft one-page/one-side “survey” attempting to capture Neighborhood Character from a residents perspective.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHARACTER WORK WILL CONTINUE THE FOLLOWING MONDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 30, FROM 7:00 TO 9:00 PM IN ROOM 2500 B, AS WE COMPLETE OUR REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE FOR 2009.

WE WILL ALSO DISCUSS SPECIAL EVENTS & PARTNERSHIPS IN 2010
