ADVISORY COMMITTEE CHARTER
PURPOSE OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE:
This is a committee of diverse stakeholders assembled by the City of Portland ’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to provide input and perspective. The committee works together to review issues, discuss options, and provide on-going advice to the CAO regarding the services and activities of the Office of Management & Finance (OMF). The committee is advisory to the CAO who co-chairs the committee with a committee member of his choosing. The Committee advises the CAO on matters related to a broad range of OMF activities including: budget; policy; strategic planning; and initiatives undertaken by the CAO. The committee also serves as OMF's Budget Advisory (BAC) and CTO Advisory committees.
ROLES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
- Share expertise and experience with CAO
- Assess options and share perspectives to further the mission of OMF
- Assist CAO with problem solving on a variety of issues as requested
- Bring new thinking and a citywide vision to the table
- Communicate appropriately and maintain confidentiality
RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
- Teamwork: Support and encourage fellow committee members
- Timeliness: Meet committee deadlines; maintain attendance
- Participation: Come prepared to effectively share input
- Flexibility: Be willing to re-prioritize
- Courtesy: Check out assumptions before drawing conclusions
- Communication: Maintain appropriate and accurate communications
- Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of the CAO and Advisory Committee
