Time/Dates - Six Wednesdays: February 20, 27, March 6, 13, 20, (break), April 17 6:00 to 7:45 p.m. in Downtown Portland
(Wednesdays don’t work for you? Contact us to hear about additional course offerings.)
Join the growing network of over 850 Portlanders who have completed the How to Be an Agent of Change course, which was developed by veteran change agents Jeanne and Dick Roy.* This sustainable leadership training imparts a proven framework for advancing sustainability or ecological awareness in a chosen “circle of influence” (workplace, neighborhood, school, etc.). Recent project examples: a parent forming a nature club at his child’s school; a NE resident starting a kitchen share space in her neighborhood; an employee organizing a non-curbside recycling system at her office; a nonprofit volunteer making the annual fundraising event zero waste.
During the course, you select your circle and vision for change, and the facilitators give you tested tools and strategies to be successful. Participants collaborate and consult with one another during steps of early implementation. In addition to creating a complete plan for action, core skills gained include how to: 1) be more effective in recruiting others to your cause, 2) set and reach your goals, and 3) maintain project momentum.
After completing the class, trained “Agents” become part of the Agent of Change Network, which offers ongoing project support through events, additional trainings, and networking opportunities, all at no cost.
There is no charge for the class, but advance registration is required. For information or to reserve your space, contact Emily Klavins at 503-227-2315 or emily@earthleaders.org. Learn more about the Center: www.earthleaders.org.
