Mitchell Creek Natural Area – planting for Martin Luther King service day

Saturday, January 19, 9:00 a.m. – noon

JoinPortlandParks& Recreation, Hands On Greater Portland, other community members to plant native trees and shrubs at Mitchell Creek Natural Area for theUnited Way-sponsored MLK service weekend! This natural area is a high-priority restoration site that has been previously cleared of invasive Himalayan blackberry and we are excited to work with community volunteers to improve fish habitat for the nearbyMitchellCreek. Please wear long pants and long sleeves, sturdy walking shoes, and bring a water bottle. Tools, gloves, water and granola bars will be provided.

Meet at: SE 156th & Clatsop. Driving directions: From I-205, take the Foster Road exit and continue east on Foster Road. Turn right onto SE 162nd, then right onto SE Clatsop. Turn left onto SE 156th and park along the street. Please take care not to block neighbor’s driveways. Biking option: Bike the Springwater Corridor trail to SE 158th & Martins, on the south side of Powell Butte Nature Park. Bike south on SE 158th to Foster Rd. Turn left onto Foster for 4 blocks. (Be careful on Foster! There are no bike lanes.) Turn right onto SE 162nd, then right ontoSE Clatsop.
