As Oregonians make the switch to highly fuel efficient vehicles, the state's principal road funding mechanism--the fuel tax--will no longer raise sufficient revenue to maintain the system. ODOT manager James Whitty will present Oregon's groundbreaking new approach to road funding--a charge on distance traveled--as a potential replacement for the fuel tax.
