MONDAY, FEB. 18 – A man was shot and killed Sunday night by Portland Police on the grounds of Portland Adventist Medical Center Sunday night. No officers were injured during the shooting.
Details regarding the deceased and the responding officers are not available. An update will be provided today at a time to be announced; possibly around noon.
The investigation began at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday when Portland Police Bureau officers were called to the medical center on reports of a man with a gun in the parking lot. Several officers responded to the attempted to contain the large medical campus. The hospital went into lock-down to keep patients and staff safe.
As officers worked to contain the complex, officers encountered the suspect and shots were fired. The suspect died at the scene and no officers were injured.
Homicide detectives and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division were at the scene over night to begin the investigation.
Per policy, any involved officers will be placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
