Hales speaks at Hispanic Chamber

Mayor Hales with U.S. Rep. Suzanne BonamiciMayor Charlie Hales spoke Tuesday to the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce at its membership luncheon.

Also on the agenda was U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon, whose district includes portions of Portland.

Hales’ speech ranged in topic from diversity in city hiring, to fully funding public schools, to changing the culture of the Portland Police Bureau. He also discussed the tough work ahead of crafting a city budget for 2013-14, while dealing with a deficit of at least $25 million in the general fund.Mayor Hales with Garbriella Mann of State Farm Insurance
