Human Rights Commission"The Human Rights Commission shall advocate for and take positive action toward eliminating discrimination, racism, and bigotry, strengthening inter-group relationships, and fostering greater understanding, inclusion and justice for those who live, work, study, worship, travel and play in the City of Portland."
The Human Rights Commission is appointed by the Portland City Council. Members are volunteers who work without compensation. They may only be contacted through the Office of Human Relations by phone at (503) 823-5510, by fax at (503) 823-4420 (fax), or electronically (click here to send a message to the Commission).
The Human Rights Commission meets every first Wednesday of each month, 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Office of Human Relations - Human Rights Commission, located 5315 N Vancouver Ave, Portland, OR 97217 (click for map). The public is always welcome to attend and the agenda usually includes a time for comments from observers.

HRC COMMITTEES
Community and Police Relations Committee: brings together members of Portland’s diverse communities and its police officers to improve community and police relations, further an authentic community policing culture, and promote dignity, understanding and respect in police and community interactions.
Dialogues on Truth & Reconciliation Committee: ad hoc planning group to launch community forums on truth and reconciliation committee for Portland.
Executive Committee: HRC leadership group that includes chairs of all standing committees.
