Cristina Nieves, Policy Advisor, 503-823-3993

Cristina Nieves joined our team as Executive Assistant to the Commissioner and Chief of Staff in November 2013. Previously Cristina worked in the office of Multnomah County Chair Marissa Madrigal.  She worked on Oregon House Bill 3194, which offers incentives in the criminal justice system for local jurisdictions to reduce jail and prison use. Cristina is a graduate from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, with a Bachelors degree in Political Science. Her passion for service to the community and social equity drives her work in the city of Portland.  Cristina is the primary contact for scheduling, and in 2015 was promoted to assist with management and research on specific policies including the Department of Justice Settlement/mental health care initiatives, fossil fuel use, protection of bees and other pollinators, and multiple other initiatives.  Cristina completed the New Leadership Oregon program at Portland State University. Outside of the office, she enjoys running long distance, and hiking trails.
