Today was "Walk to Work Day," sponsored by the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Bicycle Transportation Alliance, Willamette Pedestrian Coalition, and other local partners.
Three members of my staff, Patti Howard, Tim Crail, and Milena Malone, participated in today's event by walking one mile from Southeast Portland (Patti) and four miles from Southwest Portland (Tim and Milena). They are pictured below, sporting commemorative pins received at the event's celebratory breakfast in the City Hall Atrium upon arrival.

I am a member of the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition. I have participated in previous demonstrations advocating for pedestrian safety and the joys of walking and using wheelchairs and strollers in Portland. Unfortunately I was unable to join today's event, so I especially look forward to the next one. This first Walk to Work Day seems sure to become an annual event, given the successful participation today.
