Public Meetings on Budget Development
The Portland Housing Bureau (PHB) Budget Advisory Committee will provide input to the development of the Bureau’s FY 2010-2011 Requested Budget at a series of public meetings. All meetings will take place at the PHB Offices, 421 SW 6th Avenue, Portland, Suite 500. The first two meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 4:00-6:00 p.m., and Thursday, December 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
The Budget Advisory Committee invites the public to listen to its deliberations. Please note that while the Budget Advisory Committee does not plan to take public comment at its initial meetings, future City budget meetings will provide many avenues for public comment on budget development. Please consult the City’s electronic budget center at www.portlandonline.com/omf/index.cfm?c=26061 beginning in January for the dates, times and locations of City budget forums and individual Bureau budget hearings. The public is also encouraged to provide comments on the PHB budget via email to phbinfo@ci.portland.or.us.
Comments and questions can also be submitted by letter to the Portland Housing Bureau, attention Paul Stewart, 421 SW 6th Ave., Room 500, Portland, OR 97204. Comments should be submitted by January 8, 2010 for full consideration in PHB’s 2010-11 Budget Request, which will be submitted on or before February 2, 2010 for review by City Council.
The Portland Housing Bureau is a new City agency that advises City Council on a full spectrum of housing policy and program issues. PHB works with a broad set of community and governmental partners to implement programs that meet City housing goals. Current PHB programs include financing the development of multi-family rental and owner-occupied homes for people who are not served by the private real estate market. PHB also funds services that help people find homes and become successful tenants and homeowners. PHB is the City agency that guides the 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness in Portland & Multnomah County. It funds a range of activities to prevent and end homelessness, including community planning, emergency shelter, rent assistance, outreach, and services that support people transitioning out of homelessness.
