Meet George Hocker

     

George Hocker serves as Public Advocate for Commissioner Fish.

 

He is our lead liaison to Elders in Action, and his portfolio also includes veterans issues, the Portland Rose Festival, the Disabilities Commission, the Human Rights Commission, and the NW Oregon Labor Council.

 

George is a native of Washington DC and a graduate of Howard University and the State Department's Senior Seminar.

 

In addition to his work with our office, George enjoys spending time at Portland's great restaurants and jazz clubs.

Programs and Services

 

Portland Parks & Recreation and the Portland Housing Bureau offer a variety of programs and services specifically tailored to serve older adults.

 

Parks Senior Recreation program is dedicated to ensuring access to recreational, wellness, and educational opportunities for Portland-area seniors. It is located at 426 NE 12th and staff can be reached by phone at (503) 823-4328.

 

The Portland Housing Bureau Home Repair Program offers no-interest loans of up to $15,000 to homeowners in certain parts of town who need to make critical home repairs. PHB also funds local home repairs grant programs to help very low-income senior homeowners through these groups:
