As Portland gears up to host the Major League Soccer All-Star Game in August, it’s great to see that our small businesses are getting in on the action.
When Nick hosted a city-wide committee meeting last October to plan for the game, he invited Heather Hoell of Venture Portland to ensure that neighborhood small businesses had a voice at the table. And Heather made sure they did.
In March, Venture Portland awarded grants to four east-side business districts, to help ensure that our neighborhood small businesses will share in the economic boon from the All-Star Game.
The grants will help fund events like Kick Kick Score on August 3rd, which was designed by local business owner Hilda Solis. The event will feature nine mini soccer fields throughout the Hawthorne business district, increasing visitors to the district and benefiting small businesses like Solis’ Bazi Bierbrasserie.
As the Council Liaison to Venture Portland and representative to the All-Star Game, Nick is proud that Portland has the chance to showcase all of our city this summer, including our neighborhood small businesses.
