The Portland Building’s new art installation begins today!
Portland State University MFA student Jea Alford kicks off the new season of the Installation Art Series. Her installation, A Prayer for More Equal Distribution of Wealth, is composed of re-purposed trash bags that are transformed into an elegant array of prayer flags. Alford’s inspiration stems from her life experiences, from growing up in poverty to currently weaving through the sphere of upper-middle class academia and art.
Sponsored by the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC), the Installation Art Series features a variety of interactive and experimental art installations. Selected by a juried process, each installation is up for a month in the lobby of the Portland Building. The objective of the Installation Art Series is for the public to rethink what art is. Each installation is a story with a significant message by talented local artists.
A Prayer for More Equal Distribution of Wealth will be up in the Portland Building’s lobby until April 18th. For more information about the Installation Art Series, check out RACC’s website.
