A Tribute to Coach Roy Pittman - February 26, 2013

Join us on Wednesday, February 27 from 5:30-6:30 at Peninsula Park Community Center, to honor longtime Peninsula Wrestling Club Coach and North Portland icon Roy Pittman.

Coach Pittman has worked with over 60,000 young men and women during his time coaching, many of whom have won state, regional and national titles. Coach Pittman focuses on more then just winning. He wants his students to recognize the process of growth and risk-taking they go through while in his program.

Coach Pittman is a high school state champion, collegiate wrestling champion, Olympian, mentor, motivator, inspirational speaker and dedicated community advocate. He founded the Peninsula Wrestling Club in 1970, and helped place Portland and Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) on the national radar.

Coach Pittman retired in 2000, but continues to rent space from PP&R to run the wrestling program. In 2007 the East Gym at Peninsula Park Community Center was rededicated in his honor.

Coach Pittman works with youth to overcome any financial, transportation or other barrier to make sure that everyone can participate in his programs.

Thank you Coach Pittman for your dedication to our community’s youth!
