This Thursday, November 1, Home Forward will open its Section 8 rent assistance waiting list.

The Section 8 program provides rent assistance to low-income residents, enabling them to afford market-rate rental homes and apartments. Currently, this important program provides rental support for about 8,700 households.

Low-income families and individuals will be able to apply between November 1 and 10, 2012. Once on the waiting list, applicants will be selected to receive vouchers using a lottery system. Priority will be given to seniors, persons with disabilities, and people who are working or engaged in education or training programs.

The application can be filled out online, using any internet-connected computer. Home Forward has partnered with local libraries and other organizations to provide internet access to applicants. Click here for a list of these locations.
