Construction of the Native American Youth and Family Center's (NAYA) innovative new affordable housing community in Southeast Portland is underway - and incredibly, will be completed in the impressive time of just 3 days!
The $1.7 million apartment community, Kah San Chako Haws - "East House" in the Chinook language - was built using a very innovative technique. The modular pieces of the complex were built at a factory off-site, trucked to Portland, and are being pieced together to turn into affordable, permanent homes.
Kah San Chako Haws will offer nine individuals and families a modern and energy-efficient place to call home.
The Portland Housing Bureau was proud to join our local housing partners to provide quality, affordable homes for families in the Lents neighborhood.
