Summer Free For All provides healthy lunches to local kids - July 12, 2012

By David Nguyen

As part of the annual Summer Free For All programs, Portland Parks & Recreation is partnering with Portland Public Schools and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide free, healthy meals for children in the community.  The playground lunch program is made possible by our generous sponsors, including one of our Premier Sponsors, Nike.

The free lunch and breakfast program comes to local neighborhoods with some of the highest levels of poverty and food insecurity.  Last year, the program served 172,405 summer meals, up from 144,552 the year before.  This year we are hope to serve even more hungry kids!

Check out our 2012 Summer Free For All schedule for a full list of free lunch programs and our schedule of free movies, concerts, and performances this summer!
