Community efforts support Portland Parks & Recreation - July 5, 2012

By David Nguyen

Today, the Oregonian Editorial Board highlighted our community's efforts to help Portland Parks & Recreation maintain our National Gold Medal-winning parks system.

Portland would not have won the Gold Medal without the generosity of our private business partners, non-profits, and the dedication of thousands of volunteers from our community.

During a financially difficult time, our many volunteers and sponsors provide vital support - including volunteer time to maintain our gardens and green spaces, clearing and maintaining trails, and providing financial support for programs like the Summer Free For All.

As Part of the 2012 Summer Free For All program, Parks is showing 40 movies, 46 neighborhood concerts, 10 Washington Park concerts, 38 rock climbing wall events, and 101,578 summer lunches for children in the community.

We'd like to give special thanks to our sponsors who help make Summer Free For All possible.

Check out the 2012 Summer Free For All schedule online to find an event near you!
