Bud Clark Commons Honors Donors - June 14, 2012

By David Nguyen

Nick was honored to join Doreen Binder, non-profit partners, and community members to unveil the Donor Wall at Bud Clark Commons (BCC) yesterday.

The Donor Wall celebrates those individuals, businesses, and organizations who donated funds, goods, and services to help BCC open its doors.  Donors helped purchase computers, laundry machines, dishes and flatware, art therapy supplies, a fix-it bike rack, and more.

The now year-old building provides affordable homes and services for our community’s most vulnerable, and recently won national recognition.  Holst Architecture, who designed the building, was awarded the Creating Community Connections award by the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

During its first year in operation, Transition Projects, which operates the 90-bed men's shelter and day service center at BCC, has helped:

  • 576 individuals transition into permanent housing
  • 600 people access the day center on its busiest day
  • 483 people access Doreen's Place, the men's shelter
  • 930 veterans connect to services
  • 7,500 total individuals access Transition Projects programs at BCC
