Charles Jordan spent 10 years as Portland’s first African American City Commissioner, and 14 years as our Parks Director. Jordan changed Portland’s landscape - under his leadership, 44 new parks and natural areas were added to Portland’s parks system.
Parks will host a ceremony on July 22, 3:30 pm to formally acknowledge the re-dedication of the Community Center. The event is also a way for the community to commemorate Charles Jordan’s remarkable achievements.
