Story by Abby Warren
As our Mayor, Sam Adams, reminds us, "There's always room to learn about how to grow, preserve and eat sustainably on a budget." The Urban Growth Bounty series offers a chance to do just that!
Now entering its fourth year, the Urban Growth Bounty series gives Portlanders the opportunity to explore the world of urban homesteading, while networking with others who share their same interests.
Presented by the City of Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, the 2012 series will offer creative courses in beekeeping, cheese making, food preservation, different types of gardening and more. A diverse aray of classes for all skill levels will be led by expert instructors.
Urban Growth Bounty dates, times and locations can be found on the 1,000 Gardens calendar as well as on the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability website. On-line registration is now open.
