We're glad to report that Hillsdale Park in Southwest Portland has been reopened effective immediately.

Safety of park users (human and otherwise) is our top priority. After we received reports of dogs becoming sick after visiting the park, Hillsdale was closed on August 12 to investigate the possibility that unauthorized chemicals had been used in the park.

We don't use pesticides intended to kill or remove animals, and use by the public of such pesticides on park land is a violation of law. After independent testing of the soil and thorough searches of the park by PP&R staff, we've determined that the park is safe for people and pets alike.
