PP&R has announced that Hillsdale Park at SW 27th and Hillsdale Highway will remain temporarily closed until further notice. As a safety precaution, the park was closed last Friday to allow PP&R to investigate the possibility of unauthorized chemical use in the park. Laboratory soil testing is underway.
The park closure follows reports of unauthorized pesticide use in the park, and reports of dogs becoming sick after visiting the off-leash area. PP&R does not use pesticides intended to kill or remove animals.
The safety of the people, pets, and wild animals who visit our parks is of primary concern to PP&R. As a precaution, as the investigation continues PP&R has asked the public not to use the park until an update is available.
We'll reopen the park as soon as we're sure it's safe for all visitors.
