Every Friday, KATU spotlights one of Portland's parks - last Friday, we were excited to see that they'd turned their attention to Director Park, one of Portland's newest parks and a gem in the middle of downtown.
The story also highlights one of our outstanding PP&R employees, Alicia Hammock. She serves as Cultural and Events Coordinator for the park, and is responsible for bringing you Big Chess, great music events all Summer long, spectacular World Cup viewing parties, OBT Exposed, and much more.
One-acre Director Park is a true public piazza, designed as a series of small, intimate "rooms" - the Bosque, Lower Terrace, Plaza, Teachers Fountain, and Artists' Niche.
If you haven't stopped by yet, this is the perfect season for a visit. We've got lots of great events coming up!
- Poetry in the Piazza tonight from 7:00 to 9:00
- Brian Oberlin on the Mandolin next Thursday during the lunch hour
- Big Chess nightly from 7:00 - 8:30
- Create your own fabric art flag next Saturday at 1:00
