Congratulations to the Friends of Grant Athletics, which as Larry Bingham reports in this morning's Oregonian, recently secured major donations from Nike and the Juan Young Trust.

The new commitments, totaling $215,000, and the $100,000 we secured in the City of Portland budget for next year, bring the total committed to the Grant Fields Project to $700,000.

The project has two phases: first, reconstruction of the track and field inside the Grant bowl; second, renovation of the natural turf field between Grant and Hollyrood Elementary.

We're proud to be a partner in this effort - bringing high-quality, all-weather fields to young Portland athletes is one of our top priorities.

The Friends of Grant Athletics have a beautiful vision for the park. We can't wait to see this project come to life!
