It's Great Blue Heron Week in Portland! Today through Sunday, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Portland adopting the Great Blue Heron as our official city bird.

This year's Great Blue Heron Week festivities will include bird walks, presentations on habitat restoration, and the annual Ross Island Regatta on Sunday morning.

All events are free and open to the public. We hope you can join us!

This week we're also celebrating another exciting milestone - the 20th anniversary of Portland Farmers Market.

PFM is a true community asset, supporting our local economy, bringing fresh produce to markets across town, and actively working to connect more low-income shoppers with fresh, healthy food.

We were proud to honor Executive Director Trudy Toliver and her team with an official proclamation today before Council, and are looking forward to the official celebration, which takes place June 18 at the Portland State market at 11:00 am. Stop by for food, fun, and a dunk tank!
