Farmers markets abound! - May 3, 2011

There are so many ways to get outside and connect with your friends and neighbors during the spring and summer months.

From free concerts in your neighborhood park to growing fruits and vegetables in your community garden, summertime in Portland is hard to beat!

One of the highlights of the summer each year is the wealth of farmers markets that criss-cross the city, making fresh, healthy, local food available to people across town.

Our friends at the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability tell us that, at last count, more than 20 markets call Portland home.

Several markets are opening this weekend, and nearly all will be open in the next month.
